Around the Web...

Coming to you live from the Cool River Cafe, famous for blocking this blog due to - I guess - objectionable content, it's me (circumventing their net nanny by using LogMeIn.com to control my home PC, from which I am posting).

I love me some technology.

Busy at work, busy with life, but here's what's in the news:

• Michael Moore's brave, brave minutemen take their brave, brave battle for Iraq to Jordan. Because Jordan invaded... errr, because Jordan is Western... no... ummm... ok, you got me, unless it's not really just about Iraq. Huh, go figure.

  And the Jordanians are none too pleased:

  Jordanians flooded Amman blaring car horns and waving the nation's flag to protest the suicide attacks at three hotels with Western connections.

  Hundreds of angry Jordanians rallied, shouting, "Burn in hell, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi!" after the claim of responsibility was posted.

  Whoops.

• Teenager killed by the Internet! No, I'm not sure how hanging out in a stupid Usenet newsgroup talking about a stupid thing like killing yourself and then doing it somehow absolves a 19-year old young woman of her stupidity.

  Obviously something was seriously wonky in her life, as an internet message board isn't going to encourage a well-adjusted person in their prime to end it all. A tragedy, to be sure, but the blame belongs on the person who chooses to kill himself / herself.

• U.S. Senators are pissed about oil company profits. Nevermind the irony that most of them get paid for not reading the bills on which they vote, when they bother to show up, and the money that goes into their pockets and pork projects is taken from the American people by force of law and threat of punishment, rather than the marketplace.
