Terri Schiavo: Compare and Contrast

Offered without comment, this:

I never cared what the arguments were over the amount of brain activity, nor did I listen to any gossip about her husband. What I advocated from the beginning is that her parents be allowed to take her home and take care of her until her natural death. It may have taken a bit longer, but as the medical examiner said, she would have died soon anyway.
...and this:
If I ever become unable to speak for myself.... if my parents ever, ever try to circumvent my husband's wishes as to what medical treatment I do or do not receive, or what type of funeral arrangement he deems necessary, or for that matter any part of my long-term or end-of-life care, please shoot/poison/seriously maim them. I got married for a reason.
