And nobody came?
Many parents kept children away from classes in the capital, worried about a "Day of Resistance" against the Americans called for in leaflets attributed to Saddam Hussein's party. But as the day went on in the capital with no dramatic attacks, traffic returned to normal. The articles also goes on to indicate that the recent spate of attacks is due to insurgents, possibly Al Qaeda in nature, and not the Iraqi people themselves. All of the Democratic Presidential contenders calling for us to bring the troops home right now are really saying "leave the people of Iraq at the mercy of the enemy."
But that's ok, they also said we should leave them at the mercy of Saddam Hussein. And here we've always been taught that the left is where the heart of the humanitarian lies. Odd that.
Here's an idea: Bring our troops home when the job is done.
