Yes the Church believes in the existence of a real supernatural God and as such believes in a real supernatural realm of existence. To not believe in the supernatural world is to not believe that God truly exists because God is supernatural. And if God exists in the supernatural realm than it is possible that other beings can exist in a the supernatural realm such as angels and demons. Understandably in this day and age where a belief in a true and living God starts to seem more ridiculous because we feel that we have learned so much through the rise of science that we feel with so many questions answered there must not be God and all things that people believed before the rise in material science must be nonsense. You can take it or leave it, believe it is crazy. However for those who believe in a real Living God it is not hard to believe that there are beings in the supernatural world and that not all of them are good. I think the occult is nonsense; however, if you really wanted to answer this question about folks believing in this stuff, you shouldn't look at the pope, but at the growing number of people who are actively trying to become witches or who are delving into the study of the occult.
