It seems that hardly a week goes by without D’Souza spouting off some bit of right-wing religious idiocy.
This week, he violates Andy’s Law, named by yours truly after yours truly to stand aside argumentative tactics such as Godwin’s Law:
A conservative Christian debating any moral issue will inevitably invoke the non-consensual abuse of children or animals and think they’ve won the debate.
In his response to the American Episcopalian Church’s decision not to be bigots, despite what their holy book of myths commands here and there, Dinesh vomits thusly:
This is intended to account for the Episcopal church’s decision to ordain a gay bishop and open its doors to gays and lesbians, but if that is the stated criterion, aren’t we forgetting some other historically marginalized groups here?
–Convicts Who Have Been Found Guilty of Violent Crimes (more marginalized now than ever before)
–Child Molesters (marginalized even within the prison population!)
–Serial Killers (admired in the movies, but otherwise very marginalized since at least the days of Jack the Ripper)
–Pedophiles (so marginalized that even gays keep their distance, and all for holding that there’s nothing magical about being “of age”)
–Polygamists (marginalized for holding the view, “Why Stop at Two?”)
–Skinheads (more marginalized today than the groups they seek to marginalize)
OK, so he didn’t mention beastiality in there, but it’s certainly not for lack of trying (or perhaps he thought he might be tipping his hand on some of his kinkier fantasies, like the one involving the armadillo and the curly straw).
His violation of Andy’s law aside, I was always taught that the teachings of Jesus were about forgiveness and washing away sins.
If a violent, child-molesting, pedophiliac, serial killer skinhead with six wives asked for forgiveness, should the church look to Dinesh or Jesus for guidance? Didn’t Jesus, as the stories go, rather make a point of hanging out with the marginalized in order to lead them to the path of righteousness?
Granted, the Old Testament god seemed to think the path to righteousness was paved with bloody, brain-spattered stones, but isn’t it odd that so-called Christians reject Jesus in favor of bigotry and hatred?
I said “odd,” not “surprising.”
Update: If you want more D’Souza stupidity, read this, and marvel at how he essentially blames the Duke / Nifong debacle on liberalism in our culture, rather than a politically-motivated hack doing whatever it takes to win (because we all know the pure as snow Republicans are immune to such temptations).
The ming boggles that such a vile little puke of a pundit as D’Souza actually gets paid to crap on his keyboard.
