Turnabout is Fair Play

Thursday, March 21st, 2002

Al Sharpton’s definitions aside, blacks can indeed be racist. But it does seem that the oppressed often becomes the oppressor. Can’t we all just get along?

Someone Forgot Their Medication

Thursday, March 21st, 2002

Ann Coulter’s latest rambling diatribe attempts to link homosexuality to all the evils of the world, espouses the Boy Scouts as the last bastion of heterosexual perfection, and then brings it all the way around to Matt Lauer. See the connection? Neither do we.

First, Ann - pumpkin - yes, priests have been known to molest young boys - is it because they are homosexuals? Nevermind that there is no strong correlation between one’s adult sexual orientation and the sex of a child that they might abuse (go on, check out the psych sites). Nevermind that priests don’t exactly get to spend their time hanging out with altar GIRLS (except in the most liberal of Catholic Churches). Second, there are plenty of homosexuals still in the Boy Scouts who dare not come out of the closet because of bigots like yourself - they were there before the hoohah started, and they’re still there. And they still aren’t turning Scouting into a membership drive for NAMBLA as your homophobic paranoia would have you believe. Third, your comparison of the sex drive to alcoholism and smoking is absurd - one of the three is a biological drive hardwired into the human animal, the others are vices chosen by an individual that actually can change body chemistry to ensure that the habit is continued. We leave you to figure out which is which. Speaking of vices, when did you start smoking crack?

There’s so much to rant about in your column, but the more educated readers can probably see your irrationality without the WWR pointing it out. Oh, and your picture on that website makes you look like you’ve got a bad case of SquooshyHead. So there.

Sean Hannity: Chucklehead

Thursday, March 21st, 2002

In a recent episode of Hannity and Colmes, Sean Hannity relentlessly (and ham-handedly) pesters a Florida man not over his ATHEIST vanity license plate, which was the topic of the segment, but about his beliefs as an atheist. After paying brief lip-service to the topic of the debate, he wrenched the conversation around to an awkward discussion of theism vs. atheism. Alan Colmes at least attempted to stick with the subject, but Hannity ended the discussion with a snide comment, “We’ll tell our audience to pray for you.”

Read a book, loser.

Speaking of Our Friends

Wednesday, March 20th, 2002

The British - according to this article, they too are willing to use nuclear weapons if the need were to arise. Of course, they didn’t go out on the hyperbolic limb and call rogue states “an axis of evil”, opting for the less-Euro-socialist-inflaming term “states of concern.” Why are they concerned? Because they’re evil, damnit. Either way, let’s see if the Continent rails against the UK for being willing to defend its people like they did when they learned that (gasp) the United States might be willing to use nukes in retaliatory strikes. Apparently, a lot of Europeans think that ICBMs and the like are designed to just sit there and look phallic, rather than defend a people.

Stupid People Frustrate Us

Wednesday, March 20th, 2002

BBC Talking Point is the most frustrating thing in the world. We’re continually fascinated by the opinions of the readership, but sometimes would like to pick these people up and shake them till their brains work. For instance, under the “forum” entitled Should the UK send more troops to Afghanistan?, we have the following gem:

“Britain should NOT send troops to Afghanistan. It is NOT our war. However terrible the events of September the Eleventh were the country of Afghanistan did NOT instigate them.”

We are so damned sick of hearing idiots say “this is not our war. This is America’s war.” Were these cretins asleep when they covered the basic commonality of values between Europe and America? Do they think that if they stay out of it, the Islamic fundamentalists will just ignore them? Have they not heard all the propaganda coming out of Islamic extremists about the Decadent West? Idiots.

Yes, there are a lot of opinions supporting the US, but the (relatively) few posts condemning the war in Afghanistan are infuriating. We’re all about free speech (yada, yada, yada), but that doesn’t mean we can’t call it stupid.

From the Womb to the Tomb and in the Classroom

Wednesday, March 20th, 2002

The latest news from the BBC involves paying kids to pass their exams. Last we checked, this was the province of parents, not the government - and certainly not the taxpaying public. School funding should be used for improving schools and the quality of education offered, not paying off children to put down their X-Box controller and do what is expected of them. Everyone should have equal opportunity to learn - however if a child chooses to be part of the chaff and not the wheat, that’s a personal decision, and not one that taxpayers should be forced to bribe them on. Let’s use those funds to instill a love of learning through better classes and teachers - not through reinforcing the notion that learning is drudgery to be endured. And we say this as a couple of former students who, had we been British and under this plan, would have made bank.

Send Him Some Love

Wednesday, March 20th, 2002

Take a close look, world, for the legacy of brutality continues. Tsvangirai will disappear soon enough, we’re sure, and then it’s six long years until the next “election.”

If you’re interested in stopping the lunacy that lives on in Zimbabwe, our pals at Amnesty International suggest you write a letter to President Mugabe, to turn his heart of stone to one of soft and cuddly things like puppies and newborns. Yes, I’m sure that will stop a man who has shown a complete disregard for human life - if only those white farmers and black opposition members had done more letter writing!

Double Standards

Wednesday, March 20th, 2002

Not to pick on Amnesty International (well, ok, maybe a little), but they’ve gone and done it again. Someone needs to get these shmucks a new PR person.

From this article regarding France’s views on that poor, misunderstood youth, Zacarias Moussaoui - also known as the 20th hijacker - we see that Amnesty International has jumped into the fray, supporting the French position to withhold information should Mr. Moussaoui face the death penalty. Also, from their own website, we see that they are encouraging their members to use the case of Moussaoui to protest the U.S. government’s handling of tracking down suspected terrorists within its own borders.

So, let’s see - we get the goods on a guy who was planning to hijack a plane full of innocent people and then crash it into a building full of equally innocent people, and putting him to death is a “very bad thing”… but if you’re a Nigerian woman, Amnesty International just wants to make sure you get a fair trial before that rock cracks open your skull.

Hypocrites.

True Colors

Tuesday, March 19th, 2002

Amnesty International showed their true colors this week. This is an organization that has virtually creamed themselves with delight anytime they can point a finger at the United States for any trivial violation of what they deem to be human rights. I’ll be the first to admit that the United States isn’t perfect, but let’s examine the story of Safiya Hussaini - a Nigerian woman who is on the verge of being buried up to her neck and then having large stones smashed into her skull until she dies a bloody death for the crime of… (gasp)… getting some nookie on the side. Yes, under Islamic sharia law, she must be stoned to death if she is convicted of adultery. And what do our pick-and-choose friends at Amnesty International say about all of this? Well, one Mr. George Ngwa, had this to say

“We are not for or against sharia law, but we are campaigning for a process based on fair trial where a suspect is allowed basic rights such as access to a lawyer and the ability to speak out in his or her own defense.”

Stop the presses! Is this what I am hearing from a group that bitches, moans, and whines about the United States as if we’re some oppressive regime of tyrants? Claiming to not have sense enough to be FOR or AGAINST sharia law would be like the friendly folks here at WorldWideRant saying that “we are not for or against tossing cuddly babies into vats of boiling tar for shits and giggles.”

Anyone with a goddamned active brain cell could see that sharia law is barbaric, horrid, and wholly unfit for proper civilization. What’s that? You want to get drunk and be in public? Well, son, here’s your 80 lashes! Yet, Amnesty International would rather chastise the United States for the smallest of infractions while turning their collective head to the barbarism of Islamic fundamentalism. We should all be appropriately disgusted.
